Steampunk Birthday Owl

Both Stampendous Impressions and Simon Says Stamp had embossing as the challenge. I chose to use the steampunk owl from Stampendous for my focal image. I heat embossed it with black embossing powder and then colored it with Copics. The background was dry embossed using a Tim Holtz texture fade which I then highlighted with distress ink. I also used a diffuser so that the embossing surrounded the image, but didn't touch the image. It worked like a charm. I layered everything on a blue base card which worked with his hat. Take a Word challenged us to use blue.

Fabulous card! Love the Steampunk feel this has, that that you used BOTH types of embossing. :) Thanks so much for playing along in the 'Emboss It!' challenge over at the Simon Says Stamp challenge blog! xo
