Remember When...

Since I was enjoying my playtime today, it was appropriate that I brought out my Playtime stamps from Artistic Outpost. The June referral challenge at Artistic Outpost is anything goes. Usually I would have created a card, but keeping in line with my personal challenge to change things up, I went with a tag. I've had these stamps for a long time, but I've never used them. I found my mustache stickers on my table, so I thought that the sentiment of "Remember When..." with the graying mustache worked with the the image of the child and the old toys. The tag background was made using distress stains.
I'm also entering my tag in the Artistic Stamper Challenge which is makes for men.

Altered Art Journal

What a fun afternoon I have had. Since today is the last day of June, I had a few monthly challenges to complete. At Stampsmith the challenge is altered boxes, bags, and books. I have had this Strathmore Visual Journal sitting around waiting for some love. This was the perfect opportunity to work on it. I challenged myself today to use things in my art collection that I hadn't used for a long time if ever. I started with my Claudine Hellmuth sticky back canvas for the front cover and  used my distress paints for the color. The Stampsmith stamp I used comes from the Wild by Nature stamp set. I really love the images, but they have never seen ink. I stamped the birds on a piece of watercolor paper and used my distress markers to watercolor. The die is from Spellbinders. The letters are Thickers which I have had forever. Since I don't scrapbook, they were always too large for a card, but worked perfectly on my journal. Now I've got to fill the inside pages...sounds like fun!!

12 Tags of 2013 -- June

June is here and almost gone. I finally got a chance to work on my Tim Holtz June 2013 Tag of the month. I love this stamp and I'm so glad Tim reviewed watercoloring with distress pens.  There's always something to remember or learn. One good thing about doing my tags at the last minute...it's only a couple of days until the new tag is revealed.

Moo-ving Right Along

If you've never tried to create moos or scraplings, now is the time. The latest Rebel Challenge - Slender Benders--Scraplings and Moos continues until July 7, 2013. Join the challenge for a chance to win a $15.00 voucher to the RRD store.

This was another new experience for me. I had seen moos before, but I never tried to create them. These little art forms (1 1/8" x 2 3/4") are a lot of fun to create.

My first moo features my favorite little cat from the RRD stamp set, Just Sayin'. I first stamped the cat; then I masked it and stamped the floral pattern behind him. I added a little color and edged the moo with antique bronze distress stain.

My next moo uses the Nature Notes RRD stamp set. I stamped a portion of the trees on my card stock using Ranger's embossing ink.  Then I heat embossed the image using Powder Keg white orchid embossing powder. I love the sparkle in the embossing. I stamped Carpe Diem on a separate piece of cardstock, cut out the individual words as word blocks, outlined them with black soot distress stain, and adhered them to the moo.  The moo was then edged with the bronze distress stain.

The third moo features the RRD stamp set Floriculture. I simply stamped the flowers and the word on the card. The color was added using distress markers. I finished it off by edging the card with the distress bronze stain.

Scraplings

Stamps from Nature's Notes

Stamps from Relish Reading, Just Sayin' and Behind the  Scenes

Stamps from Beach Babes

Stamps from Just Sayin' Nature Notes, and Behind the Scenes
I did not know what a scrapling was until this months Rogue Redhead Design Rebel challenge. I decided to make one for my post today, and before I knew it, I had four done. It was so much fun. I had to stop so I could write my post.
The challenge at RRD is Slender Benders: Moos and Scraplings. I completed these four scraplings before I decided I had to stop. Moos and Scraplings are tiny canvases which you can use to create art. [Moo (1 1/8" x 2 3/4" and Scrapling (1 1/2" x 4 1/4" folded)]. Join in the challenge before July 7, 2013. Add your work to the challenge linky for a chance to win a $15 voucher to the RRD store.

I used stamps from Beach Babes, Behind the Scenes, Just Sayin:, Nature Notes, and Relish Reading in my samples.

Don't Forget the Rogue Redhead Designs Super Sale before it comes to an end. All unmounted stamp plates are on sale in the RRD store until June 21, 2013.
