Little Diva in flowers

This project took off in a totally different direction than I had originally planned. The challenge at Blogger's Challenge is alter it. I had planned to cut apart a Coke Zero can and go from there. But then I saw an old pair of my grandson's jeans which he didn't fit in anymore and with non-existent knees. I also found this old wooden frame from Michaels. Combine that with the fact that I just received the last part of my distress paints order and this is where I ended up. Of course, my adorable granddaughter's photo brought the whole project together.
I started with the wooden frame and painted it with bundled sage distress paint. When the paint dried, I sponged on some chipped sapphire distress paint. The flowers are based on Tim Holtz's recent tattered florals tutorial. The various layers are made from grungepaper covered with tissue paper and smooshed in distress paints, from linen, from burlap, and of course, from the blue jean denim. The flower centers are custom fasteners from Tim's Idea-ology line. (These are so cool.)
Since I really love how the flowers turned out and I'm so happy with the finished frame, I'm also entering this project into the Tattered Floral challenge on Tim Holtz's blog.

Compendium of Curiosities Challenge 2 Fragments

Another week, another technique from Tim Holtz's book Compendium of Curiosities. This week we are doing Fragments Basics on p. 62. For my piece I used stamp images from Quietfire and the sentiment from Club Scrap. I used my fragment over one of the stamped images. The background is copper which I embossed in one of the textured fades, bricked. I sanded the raised areas for a bit more of a distressed look.

Sonoma Nook Book Project--Club Stamp

The March Club Stamp project was to make a Nook Book. Basically it looks like a book, but when you open it, there is a large nook area where you can create a decorative dimensional page and there are two more pages that can slide in and out of the book.  The month's theme was Sonoma, the wine country. However, I went a different direction with my book. Alice in Wonderland is so popular right now. I've seen both the Tim Burton version and the Disney version in the last month. My book, therefore, is dedicated to Alice and characters. Hopefully, my pictures will give you an idea of what the book looks like.

I used the holographic card from Disney for the inside cover. The other page shows the book nook without the other page inserts.

The page inserts are reversible, so these show the reverse of the two slide in pages.

This was a time consuming project, but it was lots of fun. And I got to use my Alice in Wonderland stamps. Most of these stamps were from Rubber Stamp Avenue and MadRat Rubber stamps. Shhh, don't tell anyone, but I've got more on order from Artistic Outpost. You'll also notice quite a few items from Tim Holtz's Ideology line.
