Winter Blues

This week's challenge at Cheery Lynn Designs is Winter Blues. I used the sketch challenge at Mojo Monday for my layout.

My background uses a Tim Holtz technique. I used a distress stain smoosh (picket fence, faded jeans, dusty concord, and weathered wood) and then stamped a snowflake background stamp (Class Act Inc./Chapel Road Artstamps) using picket fence distress stain. I used two Cheery Lynn dies--Border Carnivale and the French Pastry Doily. The vertical ribbon is actually a piece of cardstock that I covered with distress crackle. I love the texture. The sentiment is from Club Scrap. The center snowflake is an oldie from my stash.

Vintage Seamstress

This week the Technique Junkies Try That Technique challenge is Faux tiles from the Jun/Jul 2011 newsletter. I like this technique because it has such a vintage look.  The thought of vintage brought to my mind this Sew Much to Do stamp from Chapel Road Artstamps. I stamped the image and created the tiles. I decided that that buttons would be the perfect embellishments for my card. Did you notice that the entire card is done in shades of brown? Well, since Simon Says Stamp and Show has a one color challenge this week, my card works well for it.

Distressed Window Technique

This week the Technique Junkies Try That Technique challenge is Distressed Window from the Oct/Nov 2011 newsletter. I used several stamps from Chapel Road Art Stamps to create this card. The background stamps are floral background,  butterfly background, and mesh background. The sentiment is from Four Small Poems. The butterfly is cut from metal using a Cheery Lynn butterfly die.

A Card Fit for a Macho Man

This month the challenge at Artistic Stamper is Men/All Things Male Themed. I think that the combination of the masculine colors from Rangers Adirondack inks and the fantastic image, sentiment, and background stamps from Chapel Road Artstamps (Class Act Inc) make for a great masculine card.
I tiled two textures stamps from the Chapel Road Artstamps new releases for August: Old Bricks and Fossil as background. The main image is from the set, Two by DaVinci. The sentiment is from Inchy Words. I layered the image on a Spellbinders die cut label. I think this card has a very masculine flavor.

Forever Young

I found a new challenge site for me, so I thought I'd try some new techniques to me also. The challenge is from I Brake for Challenges (IBFS blog) and the challenge was polka dots.  Both of the girls (IBFS) are wearing polkadot dresses. They were paper pieced (Technique Junkies Aug 2006) from design paper. The background technique is called Copic Sections and is from the current TJ newsletter.The background stamps are from Chapel Road Artstamps--Butterfly Square and Angle Butterfly and from See-D Stamps--Baby Animals and A Word or Two.

Spring

This week the Try That Technique Challenge was Watercolor over White from the 2006 TJ CD. I did morph the technique slightly. Instead of watercolor crayons or pencils, I used my Creative Inspirations Paints. They are a watercolor paint, but they have a shimmer to them. I really like how they look on my butterflies. The background stamp is from Chapel Road Artstamps. The challenge this week at Tuesday Throwdown is spring. I do love spring.

Bloggers Challenge Friday

This week our Bloggers Challenge was a color challenge. We were to use green, peach, and white in our card. The Tuesday Throwdown challenge is "Tag You're It", use a tag in our art. I started with my tag and stamped Butterfly Background, a background stamp from Chapel Road Artstamps with Versamark and used clear embossing powder. After heat embossing, I colored the whole tag with Forest Moss distress ink wiping off the embossed images. For the roses, I morphed the Penciled Twinks technique that I showed with the peony post on Monday. Instead of twinkling H2Os, I used my Creative Inspirations paints. I like the results even better. I used the peach paint for the paint color.  Behind the roses I used the Spellbinders lotus pendant which I cut in white and then painted with winter frost. The lace at the bottom is paper lace which I also painted with winter frost. The background panel was dry embossed with a cuttlebug folder and adhered to a green base card. The little peach colored butterfly was added to the lace at the bottom of the tag.
